How toilets can get an NGO status

Let us take a reality check on Malaysian toilets. I will have to say that apart from China, we are second to none (countries that are at the same development pace as Malaysia) in terms of toilet hygiene. I do think however that it is improving by centimetres over the years, but the stench from the public toilets at mega shopping malls can still get unbearable.

We however have not faced the worst. One man has decided to do something about the kids, women, men, everyone, peeing in the streets, doing their business in the bushes....... But HOW?!

The government isn't going to fund you. Unless you belong into the category where you earn 5 figure USD, you wont have the money to build mobile toilets...

But this is Otunfa Gadaffi's story... On how he feels passionate about hygienic toilets, employing janitors to give them jobs and hygiene of his people on the whole. Therefore, His Shit Business just turned Real in The Developing World!

Adapted from DMT Toilets Website, an excerpt of his 10 commandments on Why Shit Business is Serious Business.
  1. It is our core business and source of revenue
  2. It is a business that must be done, we have chosen to do it with all dignity
  3. It is a necessity of life that people must "Shit"
  4. We employ modern technology in evacuation and disposal of "Shit"
  5. Not many people can face up to other people's "Shit"
  6. We smell the money, not the "Shit"
  7. We help maintain a cleaner and sustainable environment
  8. Sanitation, Environmental & Hygiene issues are serious issues that deserves serious attention
  9. We create jobs and wealth through "Shit business"
  10. We don't discriminate against any "Shit" regardless of race, sex, religion, language, creed, distance and location.

Yes you are right, but mobile toilets are for countries without public toilets. We have them in Malaysia! However, its more hygienic peeing in bushes than going to public toilets lol

I was just thinking that in UK, there are actually lots of public cubicles for men to pee in But I forgot to mention that. That's because they're probably sick of drunkards peeing all over the streets on the benches etc. In other words, it's an "open air" toilet/ al fresco at the walkway. Open for viewing!

but don't you think that people's attitude play a part too? i mean in the hygiene of the toilet..

U r totally right, did i leave an impression that mobile toilets were the reason behind better toilet hygiene?

Obviously the mentality is more important... but we have toilets! In nigeria (apparently) they dont even have cubicles or a drain designed for hygienic purposes. Therefore otunfa gadaffi took the first step by providing the toilets, but in regards of its hygiene... that's another story altogether =)

yeah, that's another chapter. but yea, you're right. at least now they have toilets, thanks to him. at least the waste is going somewhere and not on the floor.
and i think the people are grateful enough to keep it clean. Malaysians should be gateful, in fact, everyone should be grateful.
